Competency management

In December 2007, London Underground approved our Competence Management System which forms part of the PPP contract. It defines a robust competency framework for safety critical and safety related activities. We aim to maintain the existing standards and enhance the programme with a view to benefit the business as a whole.

The Competency Team work with each area of the business to ensure that their approach to documenting competencies meet the LU category 1 standard for competence assurance. They also create a “Training Needs Analysis” document so that training can be scheduled, attended and documented. The development of a competence framework will ensure Tube Lines has the right skills to undertake work safely, effectively and efficiently.

The Competency Team aim to implement National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) activities in all areas of the business. NVQs build on existing training and competence assurance activities. They help avoid duplication of effort and provide credit for existing achievement.

Please contact Hannah Southerland of the Competency Team, on 020 7088 5913 for further information.
