The Tube Lines Community Support Fund has donated £300 to the Enfield Ignatians Rugby Football Club. The club, the first in Middlesex to receive national recognition from the Rugby Football union is a voluntary organisation and committed to the development of its players and welcomed the donation from the Tube Lines Community Support Fund.

Steve Crofts, Safety Risk Manager for Tube Lines and club secretary for the Enfield Ignatians applied to the Community Support Fund for funding to help purchase new equipment for the youth teams. The club is mainly made up of volunteers and holds regular fundraising events to help cover the costs of coaching and equipment.

Tube Lines Community Support Fund aims to support its employees who help out with good causes through fundraising, volunteering or personal donations. The fund channels money raised through recycling the newspapers left on the Tube to various charities chosen by employees. Since the fund started in early 2007, Tube Lines has donated over £20,000 through its employees to charity using the money generated through recycling activities.

Steve Crofts said:

“Over the last five years we as a club have greatly enhanced our youth section expanding from one team to seven across all age groups. It’s great that Tube Lines has a scheme in place where employees are helped in supporting good causes such as this. The money donated will go along way in helping the development of keen, talented young players. And who knows maybe one day one of the guys will become the next Jonny Wilkinson.”

Louise Brooker-Carey, Director of Communications at Tube Lines, who chairs the Community Support Fund, said:

“The Community Support Fund shows Tube Lines’ commitment to giving back to the community. We are delighted in being able to support our employees such as Steve who give up their free time to help good causes and will continue to do so in the future.”
