Funds raised through our recycling activities are now channelled back into the community, thanks to the Community Support Fund, launched in late 2006. The programme uses money raised from the Go Green recycling programme to support employees who are actively involved in and support charities, local organisations and community initiatives.
The Tube Lines external affairs team acted as the press office for Victim Support London (VSL)’s launch of a communications campaign. The aim was to raise awareness of the support it offers victims of gun crime and other serious offences. The team helped VSL secure London-wide media coverage for a poster campaign that was launched, following recommendations from the Gun Crime report.
In response to the attacks on July 7, Tube Lines donated £300,000 to two organisations to help support those affected: £150,000 to the London Bombings Relief Fund and a further £150,000 to Victim Support London (VSL). VSL was involved in the immediate emergency response, deploying staff and volunteers trained in serious crime and bereavement by homicide, to London’s hospitals and to the Family Assistance Centre. Our donation will help enable them to continue supporting the people affected by the 7/7 terrorist attacks effectively.
