Visits to Tube Lines’ depot in Stratford give students the opportunity to learn more about how the Jubilee line trains are maintained and the engineering and planning involved. Students learn about the functions of the train and the hard work that goes in behind the scenes to keep trains running for the 128 million passengers who use the line each year. James Hogg, Design and technology teacher at Walworth Academy, Southwark, recently brought a group of year eight students on a visit to the depot. After the visit James said: 'The trip gave our pupils a real insight into the practical application of engineering and its development within the Underground. The pupils enjoyed seeing the technology in action and learning outside the classroom'.
