Who Should Apply Tube Lines is looking for bright, ambitious Human Resources graduates to join our Human Resources Department. We’re looking for people with a passion for achievement, who can demonstrate leadership, team commitment, integrity, innovation, drive… people with a restless desire to make things happen and are keen to develop their career in a wide range of challenging projects. The Company’s Role Over the next 30 years Tube Lines will be working on maintaining and improving the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines. We are looking to develop a new generation of engineers to bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to one of the oldest transport systems in the world. A transport system which has been serving London for nearly 150 years presents unique and complex challenges for our engineers and support staff to tackle as we strive to make a positive impact on millions of passengers every day. The Graduate Programme The graduate programme begins with an induction, which will introduce you to the Tube Lines organisation, our culture, and our vision and values. We offer two years of structured development consisting of a series of placements, which normally last between three and six months. This is specifically designed to provide exposure to a variety of disciplines, so that we can offer the best opportunities for your development. The scheme has only been running since 2004 and two examples of projects on which our current graduate have been engaged are: Compensation & Benefits Benchmarking Tube Lines pay levels against the external market. Understanding the company’s grading and organisational structure. HR Service Centre Understanding all administrative processes that the department has to undertake. For example, how the recruitment process works from start to finish. For the remainder of the two years of the programme, experience will be gained in Employee Relations, Training & Development (both at our Head Office and the new Signal Training Centre at Stratford in East London), Resourcing and in the HR Departments that look after the operational staff. Career Development To assist your progress on both the work and academic front, you will be assigned a mentor experienced in Human Resources. Tube Lines will enthusiastically encourage and support you in your achievement of further professional development. Regular performance reviews and quarterly reports will monitor your progress and ensure the training is of positive benefit to both you and the business. There are also opportunities to meet up with other graduates at a formal quarterly forum, where senior managers from across the business make themselves available to answer questions. What Happens At The End Of The Scheme Whilst you may already have an idea of the specific area in which you would ultimately like to specialise, the scheme gives you the opportunity to experience different aspects of human resources management which may affect your decision. During your final six months on the scheme you will consolidate your work experience and professional development. You will discuss with your mentor and agree on the best placement to continue your career with Tube Lines.
