9 MAY 2013 – Changes to the organisation

From April 2013 onwards, Tube Lines asset maintenance operations and its capital projects delivery team are aligning more closely with London Underground’s Asset Performance team and Capital Projects team respectively.

Works and services undertaken on the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly (JNP) lines by external parties will continue to be delivered under the existing Tube Lines contracts and all contractors should continue to work to Tube Lines policies, procedures and standards.

There will be internal organisational changes during the next few months and these may result in a change to the named Company Representatives/Project Managers in contracts with your company.  Any such changes will be formally notified. Unless notified formally of any variation to your contract, please continue to undertake works and deliver services as currently contracted.

19 OCTOBER 2012 – TRACK HAZARD SCHOOL SCOOPS TOP TRAINING AWARD

Tube Lines’ Track Hazard School has been named Training Initiative of the Year at the 2012 IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) Awards.

Based at Tube Lines’ Stratford Skills and Training Centre, the school provides a safe learning environment for employees and contractors to identify commonly-found hazards in a real track environment.

The judges were impressed by the flexibility that has been built into the school and how it can adapt to specific needs.

Tube Lines were also shortlisted in the Best Achievement in Transport & Logistics category.

The awards recognise individuals or organisations who have made significant efforts to promote good health and safety practice.

11 OCTOBER 2012 – TUBE LINES WINS GREEN FLEET AWARDS

​Tube Lines won the prestigious Public Sector Fleet of the Year at this year’s Green Fleet awards.

With a diverse fleet of over 1500 vehicles, Judges were impressed with the 25% reduction in emissions have since 2009 achieved through intensive vehicle and driver management.

20 SEPTEMBER 2012 – DOUBLE SUCCESS FOR TUBE LINES AT THE NATIONAL RAIL AWARDS

Tube Lines has picked up two awards at the 2012 National Rail Awards.

Competing against the best of the British rail industry, Tube Lines added the Environmental Excellence award and the new prestigious Stephenson Award for Engineering Innovation to their recent award successes.

Commenting on Tube Lines’ environmental work, judges said: “There is an obvious commitment to the environmental strategy throughout the company. It was clear that industry culture and practice had both been obstacles to achievement but that staff at all levels had worked to overcome them.

Tube Lines Senior technical officer Nick Healey won the inaugural Stephenson Award for Engineering Innovation for creating an electronic programme machine to replace the existing mechanical signalling system. The Judges commented: “This was a very good individual effort to replace seriously obsolete and unreliable signalling control kit.”

14 JUNE 2012 – TUBE LINES AMONGST RECYCLING AWARDS NOMINEES

Tube Lines has received two nominations for National Recycling Awards. The two categories include ‘Business Recycler of the Year’ and ‘Construction Recycler of the Year’. The judges commented that this year competition was fierce, with the most entries ever received. They only selected those who demonstrated the very highest standards in recycling and waste management. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Tuesday 3 July 2012.

24 MAY 2012 – TUBE LINES WINS AT THE ENVIRONMENT AND ENERGY AWARDS

Tube Lines’ Head of Environment and Sustainability, Steven Judd has been awarded the high profile accolade of Environment and Sustainability Manager of the Year at the 2012 Environment and Energy Awards. Steven was nominated alongside representatives from British Gas and Bromsgrove and Redditch Councils.

27 APRIL 2012 – TUBE LINES SHORTLISTED FOR HR AWARDS

Tubes Lines has received two nominations at this year’s HR Excellence Awards. The awards bring together the best Human Resources teams across all business sectors in the UK. Tube Lines will contest the following categories: Best Learning & Development Strategy alongside Best HR Team: Public Sector. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in June.

18 APRIL 2012 – TUBE LINES CONTRACTOR WINS PRESTIGIOUS CONSTRUCTION AWARD

Contractor M.J. Quinn has been recognised by Tube Lines for their work carried out on the heating system at Leicester Square station. The Beacon award is presented for outstanding work on project sites and maintenance depots that is conducted safely and considerately.The work was part of the station’s low carbon project.

10 APRIL 2012 – RECYCLING RECOGNITION FOR TUBE LINES

Tube Lines has received two nominations at this year’s Recycling Aawards. Shortlisted in both the ‘Construction Recycler of the Year’ and ‘Business Recycler of the Year’ categories, the nominations recognise Tube Lines’ commitment to sustainable practice and the environment.
